Our Legacy
Established in 2020, SPC OBU New Zealand is the official chapter of the St. Peter's College Old Boys' Union for Peterites who call Aotearoa home.
Est. 2020
From Colombo 04 to Aotearoa
St. Peter's College, Colombo 04, has shaped generations of young men since 1922 under the motto Virtus et Veritas - Virtue and Truth. As Peterites made new lives across the world, the bonds of College followed them.
In 2020, a group of old boys in New Zealand came together to formally establish SPC OBU New Zealand - creating a home for the growing Peterite community across the country. What began as reunions among friends has grown into a thriving union hosting the Gala Dinner Dance, the Joe-Pete NZ Battle of the Saints, family events, and charitable initiatives supporting our alma mater.
Today, we proudly stand alongside our mother OBU in Sri Lanka and sister branches worldwide - one global brotherhood, united by the blue, white and gold.

SPC OBU New Zealand operates in close partnership with the St. Peter's College Old Boys' Union in Colombo - the mother union that has served the College for over a century. Our Patron, Rev. Fr. Rohitha Rodrigo, Rector of St. Peter's College, continues to strengthen and guide that living connection.
Together with branches across Australia, the UK, Canada and beyond, we form a global network of Peterites supporting the College and each other, wherever life has taken us.

Greetings to all Old Peterites, families and friends.
It is my pleasure to welcome you to the official home of the St. Peter's College Old Boys' Union in New Zealand.
This Union is a community bound by College - old friends, new faces, and the same Peterite spirit carried across Aotearoa. We gather to reconnect, to celebrate, and to keep that brotherhood alive for the next generation.
Through cricket, Joe-Pete, social events and our Gala Dinner Dance, we create the moments that bring us back together. Through this website and our pages, every Peterite in New Zealand - and beyond - has one place for our news, our history and our upcoming events.

About Us
Crest, Flag & Anthem
The symbols and song every Peterite carries with them - from Colombo 04 to Aotearoa.
Est. 1927
The Peterite Crest
Rendered in full colour - blue, white and gold - the Crest has carried the College's identity since 1927 and remains, to every Peterite, a mark of pride wherever it is worn or displayed.
Every element of it was chosen with care - blending the Catholic faith of the College's founders with the culture of the island that shaped it.
The Cross
Set right at the top of the Crest, the Cross keeps Christ and His teaching at the centre of everything the College stands for.
Two Elephants
Holding the Cross aloft, the two elephants root the College's faith firmly in Sri Lankan soil and honour people of every faith and background.
The Bible & Palms
At the base, an open book carries the College's guiding words, flanked by two palms recalling Christ's triumphant entry into Jerusalem.
Papal Crown & Keys
The upper half carries the papal tiara and the crossed keys of Heaven - the same keys entrusted to St Peter, the College's patron and first Pope.
The Motto Plaque
Anchoring the Crest at its base, a plaque bears the College motto - the standard every Peterite carries into the world.

The same tricolour that fills the Crest is flown wherever Peterites gather - at College, and at every Old Boys' Union occasion around the world, including here in New Zealand.
Raised at our Gala Dinner Dance, Joe-Pete NZ and family gatherings, it is an instant, unmistakable mark of who we are and where we come from.

Ninety years of cricket,
one unbreakable bond
Since 1933, the annual "Battle of the Saints" between St. Joseph's College and St. Peter's College has been one of Sri Lanka's most beloved sporting traditions - two brother schools, one founder's legacy, and a rivalry played in the finest spirit of the game.
Joe-Pete NZ brings that tradition to New Zealand. Each year, Josephians and Peterites across Aotearoa come together for a day of cricket, family festivities and friendship - proof that the Battle of the Saints is less about who wins, and more about what we share.
